DETAILED WORK HISTORY
MERRICK SYSTEMS, INC. 2006 - Present
Project Management/Software Development for Global E & P Software Provider
I recently accepted full-time position with Merrick Systems to develop, promote, and manage OVS (One Virtual Source) Production Engineering software solutions. This application was developed by my associates and we are engaging a broad market of producers worldwide.
RESERVOIR ENGINEERING CONTRACTOR 2004 - 2006
Reservoir Engineering Consulting for Boots & Coots Well Control
I typically performed subsurface evaluation in support of well control services and drilling related HSE services. Most of the reservoir evaluation is within the USA onshore area, yet I have performed extensive studies in Indonesia and Algeria. This was a part-time contract service commitment of 25 hours per week, yet I usually worked full-time.
RESERVOIR ENGINEERING CONTRACTOR 2004
Reservoir Engineering Consulting for Total E & P USA
I was contracted to work as reservoir engineering consulant for Total E & P USA. We performed an integrated field study of the Slick field in the South Texas Vicksburg. The study area was a 3000 acre block of property in which Total generally owned a 100% working interest. There were about 700 wells in the area, with 150 studied extensively. I developed a comprehensive relational data set, integrating most data with a Geographix project. I extended the Geographix capabilities with improved log analysis, basic reservoir volumetrics, and began development of material balance dynamics. The project was terminated at one point due to Total’s decision to sell those properties to Shell.
SCHLUMBERGER (Geoquest Data Management) 2000 - 2003
Product Design Engineer for Major Service Company
I designed, developed, and tested various tools and technologies for reservoir evaluation and production engineering. Drawing upon 15 years of experience developing and using reservoir and production engineering tools, my responsibility was to provide “domain expertise” in the software development process.
AVANTI CONSULTING, INC. 1994 - 2000
Consulting Reservoir Engineering for International Consulting Firm
I was the principal technical lead on six “Integrated Reservoir Management” contracts awarded to Avanti by PEMEX (Mexico’s National Oil Co.). These were multi-year, multi-disciplinary contracts focused upon specific fields in Mexico where a full scope of services from 3D seismic interpretation to final field development planning were employed. During the period from late 1995 to 2000, “my team” interpreted over 800 sq. km. of 3D seismic data (5 surveys), correlated 2,500 wells, evaluated 4,000 individual completions/stimulation treatments and their associated results, reviewed 300 drilling challenges, and ultimately proposed six comprehensive field development plans. These plans were the result of integrated interpretation from all participants in the field studies, and included detailed economics with various short/medium/long-term alternative development considerations.
APPLICATION SYSTEMS, INC. 1994
Applications Development for Sabine Gas Pipeline Company (sub. Texaco)
From March until November of 1994, I worked as a contract programmer/analyst for clients including Sabine Gas Pipe Line Company and others. I provided maintenance and module development of SQL based PC distributed applications.
M. Marlon Ivy & Associates, Inc. 1991 – 1994
Applications Software Developer for Small Consulting Firm
I provided maintenance and additional module development of a system I had previously developed in 1988. Additional development consisted of a comprehensive job cost and invoicing system. I also developed and implemented a real-time water and wastewater facilities monitoring system at a small public utility district in North Houston. The monitoring system was successful in determining areas with high “infill and infiltration” problems. Other database applications included systems for data acquisition and reporting of annual inspections and surveys of manholes, collection lines, valves, and fire hydrants.
AMAX OIL & GAS INC. 1989 - 1991
Reservoir Evaluation Engineer for “Outside Operated” Properties
I reported directly to the Vice President regarding the successful maintenance of all engineering, operational, and administrative functions for Amax's interests operated by others. I was responsible for recommendation and approval of capital projects associated with these 2,400 oil and gas wells. This involved coordination of timely response for all incoming AFE's or capital requests for new well proposals, recompletions, workovers, facility upgrades, or major maintenance and repair expenses.
District Engineer in Ozona Texas
This position was a field assignment in Ozona, Texas. I provided engineering for the drilling and completion of approximately 80 Ozona Canyon Sand gas wells. This development project included a an aggressive fracture stimulation optimization program. I combined field data and historic production data to establish relationships between fracture stimulation design and historic success. Having compiled recommendations and guidelines resulting from these correlations, I then included recommendations for utilizing new technology and new techniques. These recommendations were presented to management and implemented shortly thereafter. As Amax's effort to continue aggressive acquisition strategies increased, I became more involved in economic evaluation of acquisition candidates. I assisted the Engineering Manager on major evaluations and was solely responsible for those valued at less than $5 million. In December of 1990, Amax acquired Ladd Petroleum Corporation for $515 million
Jr. Engineer
My initial responsibilities were primarily associated with the engineering and administration of OBO interests. I performed economic evaluations on various oil and gas projects. My efforts toward administrative efficiency ultimately included development of a PC interface to Amax’s AS-400 based “Artesia” system.
Independent Consultant 1988 - 1989
Amax Oil & Gas Inc.
During the months of September and October 1988, I assisted Amax's economic evaluation group during the acquisition of two mid-size independent oil and gas operators; namely SPG Exploration Company (subsidiary of Quantum Chemical Corp.) and Kaneb Exploration Company.
Wacker Oil Inc.
From January to March 1988, I assisted the production engineering group in forecasting revenues, revising reserve estimates, and preparing a 1988 development program.
Zapata Exploration Company
As a condition of the contract that I negotiated upon leaving my permanent position, I was required to train my replacement and complete my database development projects. I fulfilled these obligations and provided for a smooth transition of responsibilities in early 1988.
ZAPATA EXPLORATION COMPANY 1986 - 1988
Reservoir Engineer
Performed annual reserves evaluations for all of Zapata's operated and non-operated properties including two new field studies for East Breaks 110 and Eugene Island 384. This was the first time Zapata had utilized PC hardware/software for an internal evaluation and the comprehensive reporting and revising efforts (fast iteration) were sufficient to reduce third party auditor costs and ensure acceptance of our technical perspective.
Zapata was a small company owning interests in 9 offshore gulf properties and I managed virtually all monthly tasks including:
· MMS Production Reporting,
· MMS Royalty disbursements,
· Gas Balancing (Between pipelines and producers), and
· Various MMS regulatory compliance for operations related well servicing.
I also performed all acquisition/divestiture evaluations for property or interest acquisitions (Eugene Island 311...), and all economic evaluations for capital development of East Breaks 109/110, and West Cameron 537/538.
